Louisiana Children’s Health Insurance Program (LaCHIP) is no-cost health insurance for children. If your children don’t have health insurance, they may be eligible for LaCHIP. The amount you pay for the insurance depends on your family’s size and income. 

How do I know if my children are eligible for LaCHIP?

Your children are eligible for free to low-cost health insurance through LaCHIP if they:

• Are uninsured
• Are younger than 19
• Are either a U.S. citizen or an eligible legal immigrant
• Have a family income that qualifies

What type of services does LaCHIP cover?

LaCHIP covers doctors visits, hospital care, physical exams, dental and vision care, counseling, and other medical services.
